Submit a Panopto Recording to an Assignment with Text Editor - Students

Your instructor may require you to submit a Panopto recording as an assignment. To do so, you may upload a recording from another source or complete the recording in Panopto directly from the assignment submission screen.

1. Navigate to the assignment page and click the blue Submit Assignment button. Under the assignment instructions, a Text Entry display will appear.

2. In the Text Entry box, select the three-dot menu and click on the Panopto icon. If you do not see the Panopto icon follow steps 3 and 4; if you do have the Panopto icon, skip to Step 5.

3. If you don't see the Panopto Recorder icon in the Text Entry toolbar, select the plugins icon, which looks like the end of an electrical plug.

4. A new pop-up window will appear. Select Panopto Recordings from the list. Proceed with Step 5.

5. If you have already recorded or uploaded your video in Panopto, choose your video and click the red Insert button.

(Note: Be sure that the correct course assignment folder is displayed in drop-down menu above the list of recordings! You can change the course you are uploading your video to by clicking on the drop-down menu and selecting the correct course.)

6. Alternatively, you can upload a video from another source into Panopto by selecting the Upload tab. Drag and drop your file into the grey field, or click the grey icon to find your file through your computer find window. Once uploaded, click on the Choose tab, select your newly-uploaded recording, and click the red Insert button.

7. To record directly from the assignment window, click the Record tab.

Give your recording a name, and then choose how you would like to record. Capture does not require a download of the Recorder app, while Panopto for Windows does install an app on your device. Either way, you will need to allow permissions for your camera and microphone to begin recording; just follow the prompts on your screen to get started.

8. Once the recording is complete and the video has loaded in your text box, click the blue Submit Assignment button.
